Jagatsinghpur District is located in the East Coast of Odisha, surrounded by Kendrapada District in North-East, Puri District and Bay of Bangal in South, Cuttack District in West and Bay of Bengal in East. This District is situated in between latitude of 20 degree to 21 degree North and longitude of 84 degree to 87 degree 3’ East. The District is also surrounded by River system the Mahanadi and Paika in North and Devi in the South West. Due to its geographical situation, the District is congenial and prone to occurrence of various natural calamities like Flood, Cyclone or both and even Drought. The incidence of drought situation is also experienced in occasional year due to erratic behavior of Rainfall. It is one of the thickly populated costal Districts of Odisha and main stream of economy of the District comes from Agriculture. The District is also having some problems in relation to Agriculture such as Saline Soils, water logging areas which have some adverse impact on production and productivity. As per Agro climatic Condition, the entire Jagatsinghpur District comes under the East and South Eastern Costal plain Agro-climatic Zone with hot and humid climates having average normal Rainfall 1521.16 mm. More than 75% of the precipitation is concentrated over five months i.e. from June to October. The Soil of the District is mostly loam, sandy and clay loam. 
The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jagatsinghpur was established in May 2005 vide sanction order no. F.No.2-15/2003-AE-II, dtd. 28.02.2005 with a vision to empower the farmers with advanced agricultural techniques and ameliorating their socio-economic status. The campus of the institute spreads over an area of 32 acres of agricultural land. The latitude is 20017’25.3’’N and Longitude 86022’16.85’’E with MSL of 26 Mt.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jagatsinghpur is the frontier for technology transfer from the research institute to the farmers. The prime goal of KVK is to accelerate agricultural and allied production in the operational area besides imparting training as per needs and requirements of the farmers, farm women and rural youths including school drop outs in the rural areas for self-employment and enhancing the productivity. “Teaching by doing” and “learning by doing” through work experience is the principle methods of imparting skill training programme. On farm trials and Front Line Demonstrations of various technologies and popularizing among the farming community for their socio-economic upliftment has been the major endeavour of KVK.
